To make a long story short, I'm running two "sites" off of our dedicated server. The new one is in a subfolder of the first one of course.

I'm trying to duplicate a section in the second site but have discovered that I can't use the same system dsn from different domain name. According to cihost this is because we use Access.

But unless I don't understand dsnless (probable), switching all the pages to a dsnless connection would be a nightmare. Plus I wouldn't know how to do it.

Is it true there's no way to use the same system DSN on these asp pages if the domain name is different? Even if the "site" is merely a subfolder of the primary site?

Also, any suggested workarounds, preferably short on time and long on easy, would be appreciated.

sounds like bull to me..

you can use database connection info from anywhere on the server in my experience

(the issue must be more complicated than that)

Now unless the site and code was written very poorly and someone hardcoded the connecting string everywhere it is is usually not as difficult as people think to go dsn-less. (and even if it is hardcoded you can usually deal with that as well) Thats what they make multiple file search and replace programs for. If you are clever and careful you can often change connection strings throughout an entire site of code in with a few search and replace operations.

System dsn's with access databases are horrible regardless.. they run slow and they bog things down.
